Software
Software helps to manage and "process" data and facts on sustainability. We support a more fact-based view on sustainability, and combine, therefore, since more then ten years software development, service, and support, with with research and consulting.
Software is only a means to an end, but it is important nonetheless: It generates results, and is, literally, the tool for the analysis. Some time ago, while starting our "
openLCA" open source project we have sketched this in a somewhat abstract manner as follows:
The role of software in sustainability assessment
In decision support, software covers frequently data collection, compilation, modeling, and calculation of results; software has therefore influence on what kind of results can be obained and with how much effort, and has therefore influence on the decision.

Since more than three years we develop Open Source Software; software that is available for free, without licence fee, may be adapted and modified by everyone to meet new requirements and to enable new ideas, and that is, not the leat, fully transparent.
But open source software cannot do everything - we therefore use and write also other software, and are resellers for
SimaPro, the world market leader in Life Cycle Assessment software, exclusively for Germany.
