We are working at the moment in the following projects (selection):

• ProSuite: Development and application of a standardised method to assess technologies regarding sustainability (PROspective SUstaInability assessment of TEchnologies), EU large scale Project, 11/2009-11/2013 (work package lead: WP7, software development)

• Design for Environment Web Tool: java-based tool for a French enterprise; the tool calculates LCAs with the aid of the SimaPro COM interface and presents the results clearly arranged for the company´s product developers worldwide; since 7/2009

• openLCA: Implementation of an Open Source Framework for sustainability assessment, realised in Eclipse Java. project website: www.openlca.org
  
  
• openLCA format converter: Development of a format converter for converting data sets from one important LCA data format into the other, for converting ISO14048/IMI, ecoSpold and ELCD datasets, project co-funded by the UNEP life cycle initiative; more information on http://openlca.org/Converter.8.0.html.
  
  
• Fortsetzungsmaßnahme "Probas - Prozessorientierte Basisdaten für Umweltmanagement-Instrumente": In this project, we process and import parameterised transport model data into the ProBas database of the German Environmental Agency, available online at www.probas.umweltbundesamt.de. These process data will be made available via a new webform that allows queries on the database. Further, dataset presentation and structure will be improved for all datasets in the database. Project together with ifeu GmbH Heidelberg, commissioned by Umweltbundesamt.
  
  
• "Indikatoren/Kennzahlen für den Rohstoffverbrauch im Rahmen der Nachhaltigkeitsdiskussion": project together with ifeu Heidelberg, commissioned by Umweltbundesamt.

• Establishment of a Continuous Life Cycle Inventory Database Registry: Development and maintenance a worldwide registry of worldwide LCA databases and other data providers. A project within the UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative.

Our recent projects include:

• connecting earthster and openLCA: Earthster (www.earthster.org) is an open source tool for Sustainability Reporting and Assessment for Supply Chains and Life Cycles, based on semantic web. It is currently tested by Walmart in a pilot. Linking it with openLCA means linking decentralised data sampling and supply chain assessment with powerful desktop modelling, all in an open source environment.

• Stand der Darstellung von Abfallverbrennung in Stoffstromanalysen: Project together with Technical University Berlin, University Kassel, and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe in 2006-2007. Goal of the project was to investigate state of the art in municipal waste incineration models in Life Cycle Assessment and related methods. Project lead: GreenDeltaTC. • Update Project "Probas - Prozessorientierte Basisdaten für Umweltmanagement-Instrumente": Project goals were design of a new structure for process data sets in ProBas, improving the usability of the ProBas website, and developing a review scheme for process data sets. The project took place in 2004-2005 and was commissioned by Umweltbundesamt.

• "Validierung der Emissionsfaktoren ausgewählter erneuerbarer Energiebereitstellungsketten": Validation of emission factors for data sets on renewable energy, mainly from GEMIS, including investigation of their representativity for the German market.

• "CO₂-Emissionen sowie Primärenergiebedarf der Herstellung und Bereitstellung von Aceton, Methyl-Ethyl-Keton (2-Butanon), Ehtylacetat, Erdgas und Strom im europäischen Raum": Carbon Footprint study for solvents

• Mathematical analysis of ecoinvent data: Quality control and data mining of ecoinvent data, development of strategies for an automated quality assurance of ecoinvent data.
